How to delete a Google review you wrote

By Saad D. · 2026-10-26 · 3 min read

To delete a Google review you wrote: open Google Maps, go to your contributions or profile, find the review, select More, then Delete review. The exact taps differ slightly between computer, Android and iPhone. Google's steps for each are below. Sign in to the Google account you wrote the review with first, because your reviews are listed under that account.

On a computer

  1. Open Google Maps.
  2. At the top left, click Menu.
  3. Click Your contributions, then Reviews.
  4. Next to the review, click More.
  5. Select Delete review and follow the on-screen steps.

On an Android phone or tablet

  1. Open the Google Maps app.
  2. Tap Contribute, then View your profile.
  3. Scroll and tap See all reviews.
  4. Next to the review, tap More.
  5. Select Delete review and follow the on-screen steps.

On an iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Google Maps app.
  2. Tap Contribute, then View your profile.
  3. Scroll and tap See all reviews.
  4. Next to the review, tap More.
  5. Select Delete review and follow the on-screen steps.

These steps come from Google's Maps help page on reviews, as read on 26 October 2026. If Google moves a button, its page will show the current steps.

Editing instead of deleting

In the same menu, choose Edit review to change the text, stars or photos. Google notes that an edited review then shows the date of your last edit as its post date.

If it's not your review

You can't delete a review someone else wrote. Google's help says so directly. You can report it to Google if it breaks Google's review policies:

  1. In Google Maps, find the review.
  2. Next to it, tap More, then Report review.
  3. Choose the reason.

Google removes only reviews that break its policies. The Google review removal guide explains what qualifies. If you own the business the review is about, owners have a separate route. See how to remove a Google review as a business owner, or check a specific review with the removal checker.

Questions

Can I delete a review I wrote on Google?

Yes. In Google Maps, open your contributions or profile, find the review, select More, then Delete review. Google says your review shows until you take it down.

Can I write an anonymous Google review instead?

No. Google's help says all reviews are public and you can't add an anonymous review. Others can see the name on your profile and your other reviews.

Will the business know I deleted my review?

Google's help page on deleting reviews doesn't mention any notification to the business. The review simply stops showing on their profile.

Why can't I find my review to delete it?

Check that you're signed in to the same Google account you used to write it. Google may also have removed it already. Its help says reviews are moderated and policy-violating ones are taken down and not reinstated.

Can a business owner delete my review?

No. An owner can only report it to Google, and Google removes it only if it breaks Google's content policies.
