Why the right link matters more than it sounds
There are two links people call “my Google review link”, and only one of them works. A profile link opens your listing, where the customer has to scroll, find Reviews, and tap Write a review — three chances to give up while standing in a driveway. The write-review link opens the star picker immediately.
That difference is most of the gap between businesses that collect reviews steadily and businesses that ask just as often and get nothing. It is not the asking that fails; it is the extra taps.
How to find your Google review link by hand
- Open Google Maps and search your business name.
- Tap your listing, then Share, then Copy link.
- Paste it into the box above. If it carries a Place ID, you get your review link straight away.
- If it does not, open Google’s Place ID finder, search your business, copy the
ChIJ…string, and paste that in instead.
Owners of a verified profile also get a short g.page link from Google Business Profile under Ask for reviews. That one works too — it is the same destination with a friendlier address.
Once you have the link
Put it where the customer already is: in the text you send when the job is done, at the bottom of the invoice, on a printed QR code in the van and on the counter. Then work out how many reviews you actually need to move your rating, so you know what you are aiming at.
Ask every customer, every time. Filtering who you ask based on how happy they seem is against Google’s review policy, and so is offering anything in exchange.

How do I get my Google review link?
Paste your Google Maps business link into the box on this page and it returns a link of the form https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID. That is the only link that opens the review box straight away with the star picker showing. If your Maps link does not contain a Place ID, look your business up in Google's own Place ID finder, copy the ChIJ string, and paste that in instead.
How do I send a Google review link to a customer?
Send it as a plain link in a text or email within a day of finishing the job, while the work is still fresh. Do not shorten it through a redirect service, because some phones warn on unknown shorteners and you lose people at the exact moment they were willing. Ask every customer, not only the ones you think are happy, and never offer anything in exchange -- both of those break Google's review policy and can cost you the reviews you already have.
What is a Place ID and where do I find mine?
A Place ID is Google's permanent identifier for your business listing, a string starting with ChIJ. It does not change when you rename or move the business, which is why the review form uses it. The fastest way to find yours is Google's Place ID finder: search your business name, and it shows the ID under the map pin.
Why does my link open my profile instead of the review box?
Because it identifies your listing by CID rather than by Place ID. A CID link is still your business, but Google's write-review form only accepts a Place ID, so the CID version drops the customer on your profile and asks them to find the review button themselves. Most people do not. Swap it for the Place ID version and the review box opens on the first tap.
Can I turn the review link into a QR code?
