Google review management software compared
Google review management software does three jobs: it asks your customers for a review, it follows up when they forget, and it tells you what people are saying so you can respond. Everything else a vendor puts on the pricing page sits on top of those three.
The category runs from about $19 a month to well over $400 a location, and the gap between the ends is not mostly about review collection. It is about how much of a wider platform comes bundled with it. So the first question is not "which tool is best" but "which of these am I actually going to use."
We make one of the tools below (Tradeloper), so treat our own entry as an argument rather than a neutral finding. There is a section further down on what the bigger platforms do that we cannot.
How we chose the criteria
We judged each option on seven things a small operator actually decides on:
- Entry price and pricing model. Flat per account, per location, or per user. The model changes the real bill more than the headline number does.
- Cost to start. Setup and onboarding fees, minimum terms, whether a demo is required.
- How requests go out. Email, SMS, or both, and whether follow-ups are automatic.
- Replying to reviews. Whether the tool drafts replies, and whether it can post them to Google for you.
- Integrations. Does it connect to the field-service or CRM software you already run.
- Scope beyond reviews. Rank tracking, profile optimization, listings, messaging, payments.
- Track record. How much independent evidence exists that it works, on G2, Capterra, and elsewhere.
Prices below are list or best-reported rates for the entry plan, excluding add-ons, each carrying the month we last checked it. Where a vendor does not publish pricing, we say so rather than substitute a number we cannot source.

The free baseline: Google Business Profile
Google gives you a review link, review notifications, and a reply box for free. If you have never systematically asked a customer for a review, start there for two weeks. Our free Google review link generator turns your Maps listing into the direct link that opens the star picker, and the review math calculator tells you how many 5-star reviews it takes to move your rating.
Software is worth paying for when asking manually stops happening, which for most owners is around week three. That is the whole value proposition of the category: not that software asks better, but that it asks every time.
Tradeloper - $19/mo Starter, $49/mo Pro
Checked: our own current pricing, August 2026. Starter $19/mo or $179/yr. Pro $49/mo or $449/yr. No setup fee, no contract, 14-day free trial with no card, 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans.
Starter covers review collection only: email review requests with automatic follow-ups (up to 10 a day), daily Google review count tracking, negative-review alerts, and a QR code for the van and the invoice. Pro adds the get-found half - local map-pack rank tracking with a geo-grid heatmap, a Google Business Profile score, a reviews widget, and AI-drafted replies.
Where we are genuinely stronger: price at the solo and small-crew end, flat rather than per location or per user, no setup fee, and a self-serve signup that has you sending the same day without a sales call. It is deliberately small, which matters if you are the owner, the estimator, and the person on the tools.
Where we lose: we do not send SMS review requests yet, we have no live field-service integrations, and we are new enough that there is barely any independent review corpus to check us against. See the next section for the biggest gap.
NiceJob - $75 to $125/mo
Checked: August 2026, NiceJob's published Reviews plan.
NiceJob does one thing and does it well: automated review collection, then turning the results into social proof. Its own documentation describes automatic sharing of reviews to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X, up to three a day. It is mature, well reviewed, and a straightforward answer if review automation is the whole job.
Where it beats us: a real track record, a longer feature list around review-to-social-proof, and SMS. Where it does not: roughly four times the price of our Starter plan, and no local rank tracking.
GatherUp - about $99/mo for one location
Checked: August 2026, GatherUp's published pricing. About $99/mo for a single location and about $60 per location at multi-location scale. Standard subscriptions carry no setup fee, no contract, and no termination fee; a $250 setup fee applies only to premium white-label accounts on a custom domain.
GatherUp sits in the middle of this market on price: clean pricing, no lock-in, and per-location economics aimed at businesses running more than one site. For a single van it costs about five times our Starter plan.
Grade.us - $110/mo Solo, up to $2,500/mo Partner
Checked: August 2026, published plan tiers: Solo $110, Professional $180, Agency $400, Partner $2,500 per month.
Grade.us is priced and structured around agencies managing review programs for clients - the tier names say so. For a single business it is a reseller platform priced accordingly.
Housecall Pro and Thryv - reviews bundled into software you may already pay for
Housecall Pro, checked August 2026: Basic about $79/mo billed monthly or about $59/mo billed annually; Essentials about $189/$149; Max about $329/$299. Additional users about $35/mo each.
Thryv, checked August 2026: Business Center Plus about $199/mo, Professional about $349, Unlimited about $499, plus a mandatory $250 onboarding fee.
This is the option most people skip and should not. If you already run Housecall Pro for scheduling and invoicing, review requests are in the box, and firing them off the back of a completed job is the tightest possible trigger. Buying a second tool for that is money for nothing. Check what you already own before you shop.
Birdeye and Podium - the enterprise end
Birdeye, checked August 2026: reported plan pricing of about $299 Starter, $349 Growth, and $449 Dominate per location per month, billed annually. Birdeye does not publish pricing publicly, so treat these as best-reported figures rather than a rate card.
Podium, checked August 2026: Podium does not publish a full rate card and quotes after a demo. We previously published a figure here; our own research review could not support it, so we removed it and we are not substituting another. Get a quote directly.
Both earn their price for the right buyer - multi-location operations with real marketing budgets and a genuine need for the messaging, listings, and analytics layers. Podium in particular is strong at converting inbound leads by text, which is a different job from review collection and one we do not attempt.
Also worth a look if you want a per-seat model: Signpost prices per user, with independent round-ups reporting roughly $49 to $99 per user per month as of August 2026. Signpost does not publish a rate card.
Four things the bigger platforms do that we do not
This is the honest part, and it should change your decision if any of it matters to you.
- They post replies to Google for you. Posting a reply from inside a dashboard requires approved Google Business Profile API access. We applied and Google declined, so Tradeloper drafts the reply in your voice and you paste it into Google yourself. That is a manual step the established platforms do not have. Our guide to writing review replies that help you works whichever tool you use.
- They text. SMS review requests get faster responses than email, and they are live on the established platforms here. Ours are not yet - Tradeloper is email-first today with automatic follow-ups.
- They have integration catalogs. Birdeye, Podium and Thryv connect to a long list of CRMs and field-service tools. We do not have live marketplace integrations yet.
- They have years of independent reviews. You can read what Birdeye, Podium, NiceJob and GatherUp are like to live with on G2 and Capterra. You cannot do that for us yet, and that asymmetry is a real reason to be cautious with a new vendor.
How to choose
- Already paying for field-service software? Several platforms bundle review requests. Worth checking before you add a second subscription.
- One van, tight budget? Flat-rate pricing is the thing to compare, and getting the ask to happen after every job matters more than the logo on the dashboard.
- Need texting on day one? Tradeloper is email-first today, so settle that requirement before you shortlist.
- More than one location? Per-location pricing changes the maths completely - compare on that axis rather than headline price.
- Reviews only part of the problem? If the map pack is where you are losing, review software alone will not fix it.
- Reviews are only part of the problem. If you are also invisible on the map, review software alone will not fix it - see local SEO for contractors for the wider picture.
Whatever you choose, the mechanism is the same: ask every customer, ask soon, follow up once. Our guide on getting more Google reviews covers the process independently of any tool.
FAQ
What is Google review management software? Software that automates asking customers for Google reviews, follows up when they do not respond, alerts you to new and negative reviews, and helps you reply. Most add reporting, and some bundle messaging, payments, or listings management.
How much does review management software cost? Flat-rate tools aimed at small businesses run roughly $19 to $110 a month as of August 2026. Per-location platforms start around $299 a location per month. Some vendors, including Podium, do not publish pricing and quote after a demo.
Can review software post my replies to Google automatically? Some can, using approved Google Business Profile API access. Tradeloper cannot - Google declined our application, so we draft the reply and you paste it into Google. Ask any vendor to demonstrate this specifically before you buy on it.
Is it against Google's rules to use software to ask for reviews? No. Asking customers for honest reviews is allowed. What is not allowed is offering incentives for reviews, or filtering so only happy customers get asked. Avoid any tool that offers to do the second one.
Do I need software if I only get a few jobs a month? Probably not at first. Use your free Google review link and ask in person. Software earns its money at the point where asking manually stops happening.
