How to get your Google review link
Short answer
If you manage the Business Profile: go to your Business Profile, select Read reviews, then Get more reviews, then Copy. That's the review link Google gives you. You can download a QR code from the same screen, but only on a computer browser.
If you don't, or you want to build the link yourself: find the business's Place ID (an ID string such as ChIJ…) with Google's Place ID finder. Then put it into this address:
https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID
Or paste your Google Maps link into the free Google review link generator and it builds that link for you. That URL format is widely used, but Google's help pages don't document it. Google's own documented route is the Get more reviews button.
Method 1: Copy it from your Google Business Profile (Google's official route)
These are the steps on Google's help page, Create a Google link or QR code to request reviews:
- Go to your Business Profile, signed in to the Google account that manages it.
- Select Read reviews, then Get more reviews.
- To copy the review link, select Copy.
- To save the QR code, right-click it and choose Save image as…. Google says review QR codes can only be generated on a computer browser, not on mobile.
This is a Business Profile manager's tool. If you don't manage the profile, use Method 2.
Method 2: Build it from your Place ID
- Find the Place ID. Open Google's Place ID finder, search the business name and copy the ID it shows. Google's examples start with
ChIJ. - Add it to the end of the review address:
https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=followed by the Place ID. - Test it before you send it. Open it on your phone and check it's the right business. Google says customers must be signed in to a Google Account to leave a review. When we opened one of these links signed out on 26 October 2026, Google first showed its sign-in page, with the review form as the next step.
Or skip steps 1 and 2: the review link generator takes a Google Maps share link or a Place ID and returns this link. It's free, with no account.
The URL formats, and which ones Google documents
| Link | Format | What it opens | Documented by Google? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business Profile review link | Whatever Get more reviews, then Copy gives you | Your review request | Yes: the steps are in Business Profile Help. The help page doesn't show the URL's format. |
| Write-review link from a Place ID | https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=PLACE_ID |
Google's write-review page for that place. Signed out, Google shows its sign-in page first. | No. It's widely used, and on 26 October 2026 it still routed to Google's review page (via sign-in). But it isn't in Google's help or developer docs, so Google could change it. |
| Maps link to a place by ID | https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=BUSINESS+NAME&query_place_id=PLACE_ID |
The business on Google Maps (the profile, not the review form) | Yes: Maps URLs documentation |
| Places API review link | Returned as googleMapsLinks.writeAReviewUri |
Described by Google as a link to write a review for the place on Google Maps | Yes, as a field in the Places API (New) reference. The URL format isn't specified. Developers only. |
One caution about Place IDs. Google says Place IDs can change over time, a place can have more than one, and an ID can become obsolete if a business closes or moves. Google recommends refreshing stored Place IDs that are more than 12 months old. If your link stops opening the right business, look up the Place ID again.
Questions
How do I generate a link for a Google review?
In your Google Business Profile, select Read reviews, then Get more reviews, then Copy. If you don't manage the profile, build the link from the business's Place ID: https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=PLACE_ID. You can also paste a Google Maps link into a review link generator.
How do you copy a Google review link?
Open your Business Profile, select Read reviews, then Get more reviews, and select Copy. To get the QR code version, you need a computer browser. Right-click the code and choose Save image as.
How can I share a Google review link?
Paste it into a thank-you email, a text, a WhatsApp message or a Facebook post. Print it as a QR code for your counter or invoices. Google lists receipts, thank-you emails, the end of a chat and an in-store QR code as places to use it. Send the full link, and test it on a phone first.
How do I get a Google review link without a Business Profile?
The Get more reviews button is one of the Business Profile manager's tools. Without that access, look up the business's Place ID in Google's Place ID finder and build the link: https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=PLACE_ID. Google doesn't document that format, so test it before you use it. If the business has no Google listing at all, there's nothing to review yet. The listing has to exist first.
Why does my review link open the wrong business?
The Place ID probably belongs to a different listing. Google says one place can have several IDs and IDs can change. Look the business up again in the Place ID finder and check the name and address before you copy the ID.
Do customers need a Google account to leave a review?
Yes. Google's help says customers must be signed in to a Google Account to leave a review. They can create one with a non-Gmail email address.
Steps and formats checked against Google's help and developer pages on 26 October 2026, linked above. Google can change its interface or URL formats without notice, and its pages are the authoritative version.
